Coffee 101

Know Your Bean

Arabica Beans - Grown at high elevations to produce high quality coffees. Sleepless coffees are a broad selection of premium Arabica beans from the finest growing regions around the world.
Robusta Beans - Robusta coffee is robust and flourishes at lower elevations and produces coffee with harsher flavor characteristics.

Varietals - Coffees enjoyed for their bold natural flavor characteristics, and are commonly named after the geographical region in which they were grown. Columbia, Kenya etc.
About Our Varietals >>
Blends - Made of two or more varietals mixed together. Blending varietals together brings out the unique flavors of the coffees and provides balance. Coffees can be blended before or after roasting.
About Our Blends >>
Espresso – Coffee forced with hot water at extreme pressure over a fine grind. It is best served immediately after it has been pulled from the espresso machine.
About Our Espresso >>
Decaf - By weight, the amount of caffeine found naturally in coffee is only about 1% for the Arabica and 2% for the Robusta coffee beans. When you read "97% Caffeine Free", 97% of that 1% or 2% has been removed.
About Our Decaf >>

Roast Level - affects the size of the bean. The darker the bean is roasted, the bigger it becomes.

Body - is how the coffee feels in your mouth. Is it heavy on your tongue?
Acidity - Sounds like a bad word but its not! Acidity is actually a good thing. It refers to the liveliness and brightness of the coffee.
Flavor - we’re not talking Vanilla Crème Hazelnut Mocha! Natural coffee flavors may be fruity, flowery nutty or maybe even earthy. What do you taste?

Congrats!! You now have your coffee degree!
